Advisory Committee Overview

In the spring of 2009, Commissioner John Auerbach invited a group of valued, diverse individuals representing various areas of the cancer prevention and control community to advise the Department’s Comprehensive Cancer Prevention and Control Program (MCCPCP). The Committee meets regularly throughout the year and advises the MCCPCP. The Advisory Committee helps guide MCCPCP decision making about resource allocation and programming, though its goals are set by the Center for Disease Control and the current statewide plan (2006 – 2011). Working groups inform and guide the Advisory Committee as it establishes priorities and makes recommendations to the MCCPCP. The Committee will take the lead with revising the state plan (2012 – 2017), a process which will begin in the fall of 2010.
